Legal Issues - MySpace
- Legal Analysis
- Myspace and the Myspace brand is registered and owned by MySpace.com, Inc, which is now owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation.
- Myspace has a privacy/data protection outlined in their privacy page, which tells the users that the information they are asked for such as name, email address and such are used for both the Myspace functions, networking services, as well as can be used for promotions and such, which the enter would enter the information for, and also used to update Myspace and its advertising. Users’ emails and full names are only displayed if the user chooses to display them.
- The website does not have any accessibility for disabled users that would help them access the website. The website does not directly sell any consumer products; this would be done through linking to consumer sites advertisements and such, so the protection would be provided by these websites, not Myspace. Myspace is accessed all over the world and has a huge geographical distribution, with users from hundreds of different countries.
