@Lee: It's a fair enough concern, but I'm conscious of overloading the Appearance options with too many choices. By all means go ahead and change it in the CSS of your own copy though!

@fourstar Absolutely. I thought James spoke with the perfect mix of intellect, passion and fluidity. Very relaxed too. It was something special.

@Robbie, you're more than welcome.

@FourStar, oh yes, James' talk really was something really special. Not seen anything quite like that before. Very good indeed.

Hi

Nice write-up - I was there too and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of speakers and topics, although the afternoon session probably shaded it for me. Merlin was amazing and Tom was slick and passionate but James was the real find; articulate and engaging about a topic many might have dismissed as dry and boring at first glance.

As for the detractors, what would be the point of 'how-to' Photoshop demonstrations at a creativity conference? That was the point - leave here and discover how to do it for yourself!

Cheers

Thanks for your comment Robert. I hadn't actually noticed any bad-mouthing about the conference at all on Twitter (not that I was looking!), so I'm a bit surprised to hear that. As far as I was aware, people in the industry generally understood that dConstruct dealt less with the specifics of techniques and tools. Can't please 'em all!

Hey Robbie,

Excellent post. I was a first time dConstructor myself this year and thoroughly enjoyed pretty much all of the sessions on offer and left feeling motivated and impassioned to create some great things.

I agree whole heartedly with your opinion that this exactly what a conference should do, teaching the detailed techniques of how to achieve such things are a waste of a stage as the can easily be explained through tutorials and guides on the internet, imparting passion and excitement are things done less easily over the web.

I was interested to see some puttz on twitter yesterday slagging the conference off because it didn't offer enough in the way of technical detail and photoshop demos.

They made a comment to the nature of "the best thing about the conference was the lunch.... which wasn't provided."

I'm glad to see someone appreciating the conference for what it was.

Thanks for writing it up.

Hi! I can't see my twitter status anymore. It's a theme problem or something else? Thank you in advance!

Just installed Vignelli. Much better than the silly light Helvetica jquery mason thing I had on the go. I write too much for that and needed to get back to a single column of entries. Thanks!

I am concerned that the colour of the visited links and even the text may be too light for some people. Have you considered adding those to the Appearance options?
